1. Building

    The Department of Building & Structural Safety issues all construction related permits and oversees all new building projects as well as all demolition in the city. Our mission is to effectively administer the State of Michigan building codes and local ordinances to ensure public health, safety, and welfare.

  2. Engineering

    The Department of Engineering provides in-house technical expertise to monitor, facilitate, and manage the City's Capitol Improvement Projects, inquire, apply and capture Federal and State grants to provide funding for our projects.

  3. Finance

    The Treasury Department is the controlling agency for the management of financial operations for the City in accordance with fiscal policies established by the City Council.

  4. Fire Department

    The Inkster Fire Department consists of 21 uniformed personnel. The department has one station with one engine, one aerial, and one EMS unit. Our department responded to over 5400 requests for service.

    The mission of the City of Inkster Human Resources Department is to provide quality human resource services to the public and to all City Departments.

    The men and women of the Inkster Police Department are proud to serve the residents and visitors of our city. Our highest priority is to protect them against the criminal activities of others and to enhance their sense of security, safety and well being.

    The Department of Public Services consists of 3 divisions: Central Services, Roads/Parks and Grounds and Water and Sewer.
