Michigan Avenue Transit Study

The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is currently working on four projects under the Building Equitable Sustainable Transit (BEST) umbrella:
  1. The Transit Master Plan, an overall transit vision for southeast Michigan
  2. Woodward Avenue Study
  3. Gratiot Avenue Study
  4. The Michigan Avenue Study
The Michigan Avenue Study will evaluate the feasibility of transit connections between Detroit and Ann Arbor as well as Detroit Metro Airport. The study will look at transit mode (commuter rail, light rail, and bus rapid transit), transit alignment - expected to evaluate alignments within a 1-mile distance of Michigan Avenue, and station location.

The RTA is hosting the second phase of public engagement on the project and they will be looking for feedback on potential station siting locations. The upcoming public open houses for the BEST: Michigan Avenue project are taking place on the following dates/times:
  • Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Eastern Michigan University College of Business in Ypsilanti
  • Monday, October 12, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Wayne Historical Museum in Wayne 3611-3771 Howe Road, Wayne, MI 48184
  • Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Arab American Museum in Dearborn
  • Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gaelic League in Detroit
