How to Check Your Service Line Material

You may have one of the following:

  • Lead service line (common in homes built before the 1960s)
  • Galvanized steel (can store and release lead)
  • Copper with lead solder (common before 1988)

To confirm your service line material:

✔ Call 313-563-9774
✔ Request a service line inspection
✔ Ask about construction in your neighborhood that could disturb lines

How to Test Your Water

Inkster will be conducting additional lead testing from January through December 2026 for homes with lead service lines. Testing is free.
